Terramation Process

01

Unique Vessel Assignment

Each pet is placed in its own cedar vessel marked with a unique metal tag number, ensuring the compost you receive is exclusively from your pet. This system provides clear identification and tracking throughout the process.

Optimal Compost Bed

A carefully balanced bed is created using wood chips, sawdust, and horse manure. These materials provide the ideal ratio of nitrogen and carbon, crucial for the decomposition process. This mixture helps create a perfect environment for natural microbial activity to break down the remains.

03

Microbial Optimization

Over a period of 3 months, oxygen is introduced regularly to the vessel. This aeration optimizes the conditions for beneficial microbes to thrive, promoting efficient and complete decomposition. This step is essential for transforming the remains into nutrient-rich soil.

Transformation to Rich Soil

As the weeks progress, the controlled environment within the vessel allows the pet’s remains to decompose naturally. The process results in the creation of rich, fertile compost soil, full of nutrients that can support plant growth and enrich the earth.

Soil Delivery

Once the soil is ready, (and if you would like it returned), it is packaged into a reusable burlap bag to be delivered to you or picked up. Your soil is now ready to be used in gardens or memorial plantings, or given to the forest.
